Manchester City injury update: Sergio Aguero to be assessed amid injury fears

Sergio Aguero will be assessed after the striker ‘felt something’ in Manchester City’s 2-0 win at Fulham on Saturday.

The 30-year-old assisted City’s opener and scored their second before being replaced by Gabriel Jesus in the 57th minute.

Citizens boss Pep Guardiola said: “Tomorrow we have the real assessment.

“He says he felt something but not injured.

“For precaution he decided not to continue, hopefully it’s nothing serious.”

Goals from Bernardo Silva and Aguero saw City return to the summit of the Premier League at the expense of Liverpool, who host Tottenham on Sunday.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Joe Bryan errors gifted City’s two goals.

Silva said: “It’s three more points so we’re very happy. Now it’s on to the next one.

“We pressed high and tried to make them makes mistakes. We tried to recover the ball as high as possible to be closer to goal.

“We made them do that. It’s a merit for us to create so many chances from other teams’ mistakes.

“When you’re top of the league it’s in your hands, we know seven or eight games will make us champions, knowing the other teams are strong.”

City will be hoping Aguero is fit when they host Cardiff on Wednesday.
